Tips for Budgeting Travel When the Dollar is Down

We have been in Hawaii almost two weeks and have assembled a few more tips for budgeting travel in the US while the value of the dollar is down which apply whether or not you are traveling with kids. Here’s what you need to know.

Invest in a Sell Off Vacations Travel FX Card

The reality is that the Canadian dollar fluctuates. I have spent the last two weeks trying to figure out how much an American dollar really costs. Using the Sell-Off-Vacations Travel FX Card gives you the benefit of knowing exactly what every dollar is costing you. Pre-load at home or on-the-go with US currency and know that you can spend exactly that amount in the US without exchange fees. Pay attention to the exchange rate, and you can lock-in a great one when the time is right, having that money (at that rate) at the ready when you need it. selloffMC

Outside is Free

There’s a reason that #OutsideIsFree is a popular Instagram hashtag. The reality is that it is true. We choose only a few tours and instead visited the public beaches in Hawaii and free hiking trails. Without getting on a boat, we swam with wild sea turtles and saw whales breaching out of the water from the coast. Tips for Budgeting Travel When the Dollar is Down

Splurge on Moments

Even though we budgeted this trip, there were still moments worth splurging on. Using the Sell-Off- Vacations Travel FX Card or cash money makes sense when you know that an opportunity won’t strike again. For us that moment was surfing with rescue dogs on Oahu’s North Shore. As dog lovers and surfers, it was a no-brainer. Proving once again that moments are better than things.

Earn when you travel

Don’t worry, I’m not asking you to work! You can grab the opportunity to play online games for real money. This way, you enjoy your travel and also earn some good pocket money on the side.

Eat Local

By heading out to explore different areas of Hawaii we were able to find locally sourced food trucks with fantastic deals on really great food. From shrimp trucks and tacos to southern BBQ eating local in Hawaii was definitely the way to go.
