Earth Day

Falling close to Easter this year, it is easy to forget the fact that today is Earth Day. Today and this weekend in Toronto there are a variety of events you can participate in to give back to our amazing planet.

Clean Toronto Together

Taking place on Friday April 25 and Saturday April 26th, 2014, Clean Toronto Together, brings together schools, corporations and residents. Here is a list of places you and your kids can volunteer to help out.

Downsview Park Tree Planting

On April 26, 2014, you and your kids can help re-green Toronto at the Downsview Park Tree Planting. Between 10 am and 2 pm, 2000 trees will be planted and no registration is required. Volunteers can meet in the parking lot near the corner of Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue.

Ice Storm Open House

Tonight, beginning at 6:30 pm, the Toronto Botanical Garden is inviting Torontonians to an open house to learn how to maintain and replace trees damaged by the 2013 ice storm. The open house is free and residents can get one-on-one advice from tree experts on how to fix damage and prepare for future storms.

Whatever you end up doing, I hope you take a moment today to appreciate this fascinating planet we are lucky enough to call home.
