What is #TO2Texas?
Its an epic roadtrip the kids and I are embarking upon 2 weeks from now. We are leaving Toronto and heading out to explore the US. Its me, two kids, one minivan and an old school map. I wanted to write this post to update you all and answer some of the questions I have been getting.
This is a common question. Why would a mother drive her 6 and 4 year olds to Texas solo over summer vacation? The answer is frankly, why not. We love challenging ourselves and hope to show people that solo or as a pair with young kids you can still easily explore the world in any way you choose.
We leave July 11 and will be returning to Toronto around August 14th. In that time, we will visit 17 states and stay in 17 different cities.
As a travel blogger, my job is best done when actually traveling. The kids are not in school this summer and we have the ability and “drive” to go. Luckily we have been able to partner with several amazing hotels and companies to help us along the way.
Who are our Partners?
So far we have partnered with the following hotels across the us:
- Hyatt and Hyatt Regency hotels
- Smuggler’s Notch, Vermont
- Kimpton Hotels
- Lazy Pond B&B, Bethel New York
- Mayan Dude Ranch, Bandera Texas
- Hotel Indigo
What are we driving?
This is where I have been unlucky in finding a partnership. Due do the length of the vacation and milage, most car companies have been unwilling to assign me a press car. In good news, almost every car company I have spoken to has given me the option to take out cars in Canada for less miles and thus I have access to many a car and will be able to post reviews on which I would recommend for traveling families like mine. In the meantime, I am hoping that sometime in the next two weeks, a company with a love of life and adventure like us will find us to be their perfect roadtrip match. Otherwise, its time to change the oil, clean our 6 year old minivan, inflate the tires and hit the open road map in hand.
What are we most looking forward to?
We are working with convention and visitor bureaus in every state who have given us tons of ideas and things to look forward to. The kids are looking forward to camps at Smuggler’s Notch, Waterslides across the country and tons of museums. I am looking forward to showing people that this sort of trip can be fun with kids and that its worth taking the time to do it.
