Monday I published a piece on Staying Fit on a Road trip with a 10 minute hotel workout video by my friend and personal trainer Ryan Shanahan. Now I am left wondering what workout he could design if we were staying in the new EVEN Hotels. Introduced to me by my friend Sue Roadman who writes Field Trips With Sue, EVEN hotels are not the first hotels to have a fitness component but are the first hotels to take it to this level. Here are my top 5 favourite features of the new EVEN Hotels.
As a mom who travels solo, my biggest complaint and sometimes excuse is that I usually can’t bring a 4 year old and 6 year old to a hotel gym and get in a full workout. Although EVEN Hotels caters more to business travellers, moms will also love this chain. The rooms have cork flooring and a variety of equipment from exercise balls and yoga mats to a wall with resistance training equipment. The best part is that EVEN Hotels has a mobile app which provides instruction manuals and suggested workouts for the in room exercise equipment. No more excuses for this mom.
Exercise Classes and Run Club
If you are like me, you may find yourself more motivated when others are around. When I am not working out with Ryan, I find the best workouts that I get tend to be in group classes. EVEN Hotels has an onsite Chief Wellness Officer that leads morning runs. There are also large athletic studios where spin and yoga classes are held.
Healthy Food Choices
There isn’t much point to working out if you aren’t able to eat healthy. EVEN Hotels has introduced a new food concept, the Cork & Kale Market and Bar which offers freshly prepared healthy foods including yogurts, fresh juices and the signature Black Kale Salad. The restaurant even offers hand-crafted cocktails made with organic and natural ingredients because its okay to indulge a little on vacation (or a lot in my personal opinion).
After all your working out, you are going to want a comfortable rest. In comes the EVEN Hotels hotel room design team. The rooms are designed to help maintain a restful balance with a calming and open design. The rooms are meant to be modern yet comfortable and feature eucalyptus fiber linens that offer a cooler sleep, naturally derived bath products and color LED mood lighting.
EVEN Hotels are not only committed to your fitness when you are staying with them but have sponsored a great website called wellwellwell.com to help you stay fit on the road. I’m guessing well.com was already taken.
Wellwellwell.com is a site that provides healthy travel tips like where to exercise, eat and play when traveling across the US. I found some great tips on secret stretches you can do anywhere and how ordering extra veggies on everything will make your vacation meals healthier.
